Soap Bases

Made from high quality, vegetable based ingredients, our glycerin soap bases are easy to use, offer a whole host of creative possibilities and have a really nice lather.

Keep soap bases fresh by storing in their original plastic containers, tightly sealed or by wrapping well in food-grade polythene and storing in a cool, dry place. To rehydrate soap base that looks a little dried out after long storage, add one tablespoon of water per kg of base when melting.

Melt & Pour Soap Instructions

!

SLS-Free Translucent Soap Base

!

An excellent standard soap base without any sodium lauryl sulfate. It has a very mild odour that doesn't overpower fragrances or essential oils. It melts easily and produces a firm soap that lasts.

SLS-Free Opaque Soap Base

!

This has the same formulation and performance as our transparent soap above but with the addition of titanium dioxide for opacity.

Palm-Free Transparent Soap Base

!

An easy to use, good quality soap base that uses Rapeseed oil instead of Palm oil.

Organic Soap Base

!

A lovely soap base that has been manufactured using high quality ingredients and certified by the Soil Association.

This transparent base has a pale honey colour due to it's organic oils content.

  • Kind to the environment

As well as ensuring that no chemical fertilisers or pesticides are used in the growing of crops for the production of ingredients, Soil Association organic certification ensures the integrity of this product with regard to the environmental impact of their farming and the long term sustainability of the land and crops.

Tips:

Take care to heat the soap base gently. We recommend using a bain marie (double boiler) rather than a microwave for melting.

We've found that melting small amounts of this soap can result in moisture loss making it more difficult to work with, therefore, for best results, melt at least 500g of soap base at a time.

Keep it natural! Try using macerated botanicals like Alkanet Root or Spirulina to add gentle colour to the soap. Natural colourants like clay powders, ultramarines and oxides are also good choices for organic soap base, but use them sparingly to avoid the finished soap becoming too dry and hard when set.

As with standard melt & pour soap bases, limit additions like oils and butters to 5% by weight so as not to inhibit the lathering.
